Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using GasLight, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be legally bound by them. If you are between 13 and 17 years of age, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Description of service

GasLight is a personal reflection and awareness tool that uses artificial intelligence to analyze conversation patterns. The Service provides:

• AI-powered analysis of conversation text, screenshots, audio recordings, and email threads
• Pattern detection and scoring related to communication dynamics
• Personal insights and reflection prompts
• Contact tracking and history features
• Shareable results cards and animations

2.1 Important limitations

GasLight is designed for personal reflection and educational purposes only. The Service:

• Is NOT a licensed mental health service or therapy platform
• Is NOT a substitute for professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical advice
• Is NOT legal advice and results should not be used as evidence in legal proceedings
• Does NOT provide clinical diagnoses of any kind
• Does NOT guarantee the accuracy of any analysis or score

Gaslighting pattern scores are generated by artificial intelligence and represent one perspective based on the text provided. They should be treated as a starting point for personal reflection, not as definitive conclusions about any person's behavior or character.

3. User accounts and registration

To access certain features of GasLight, you may need to create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscription and payment terms

4.1 Free tier

GasLight offers a free tier with limited functionality, including a limited number of analyses per month. Free tier features may change at our discretion with reasonable notice.

4.2 Paid subscriptions

GasLight offers paid subscription plans:

• Monthly Plan: $4.99 per month, billed monthly
• Annual Plan: $34.99 per year, billed annually (approximately $2.92/month)

Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region. All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes.

4.3 Billing and renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file for all applicable fees.

4.4 Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial subscription periods except where required by applicable law.

4.5 Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days notice of any price changes. Your continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use GasLight only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service to harass, stalk, threaten, or harm any individual
• Use analysis results to publicly defame, slander, or libel any person
• Share analysis results in ways intended to damage another person's reputation
• Submit conversation content that you do not have the right to share
• Attempt to reverse engineer or circumvent the App's security measures
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
• Use automated tools to access the Service
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law

5.1 Responsible sharing

When sharing GasLight results on social media or other platforms, you agree to:

• Take responsibility for how you present and contextualize analysis results
• Protect the privacy of individuals whose conversations you have analyzed
• Not use shared results as part of a coordinated harassment campaign
• Understand that GasLight results are for personal reflection and not definitive proof of wrongdoing

6. Intellectual property

6.1 Our rights

GasLight and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by GasLight and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our written permission.

6.2 Your content

You retain ownership of the conversation content you submit to GasLight for analysis. By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing you with the Service.

You represent and warrant that you have the right to submit any content you provide to GasLight, and that doing so does not violate any third party's rights.

6.3 Feedback

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use such feedback without restriction or compensation to you.

7. Privacy

Your use of GasLight is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

8. Disclaimers and limitations of liability

8.1 No warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• AI analysis results are accurate, complete, or reliable
• The Service will meet your specific requirements
• Any results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable

8.2 Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GASLIGHT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

8.3 Mental health disclaimer

GasLight is not a mental health service. If you are experiencing emotional distress, relationship abuse, or a mental health crisis, please seek help from qualified professionals. In the United States, you can contact:

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GasLight and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason we deem appropriate.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

11. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be addressed through good faith negotiation. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

You waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.

12. Changes to terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
• Providing in-app notification of significant changes
• Sending email notification where applicable

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

13. Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and GasLight regarding the Service.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
